Fresh Start for Young Fathers
Fresh Start is a two year case management program. The primary focus is teenage fathers, but fathers age 21 and under will be accepted into the program. Fresh Start volunteer staff will teach and mentor young fathers during the most critical initial stage. We want them to be well aware of their rights and responsibilities to their child. One of our first priorities for the teen father is to make sure that dropping out of school is not an option.
Man up! A Workshop Series for Young Men
"Man up!" is just our hip way of saying to young men, "get informed." Learn practical truths about the real world from men who have traveled down that road. We will teach young men to create and prioritize a Positive Value System, and then to make decisions that will either benefit or protect the values that they set for themselves. A young man will learn that the consequences of his decisions could affect him for years to come. He will learn the answer to the question "What happens if she gets pregnant?" (Rights and responsibilities, the Court, Child support, Visitation, and more). Finally we talk about the issue of Respect for Self and Others.
Co-Parenting Support Group
The weekly one hour sessions are guided and constructive and are led by two highly skilled facilitators. An endless range of topics are discussed concerning parenting. Support group members must be registered (Seating is Limited).
In many cases it may be necessary for the contact between a non-custodial parent and one or more children to be in the presence of a third person responsible for observing and seeking to ensure the safety of those involved. We will provide a safe place for fathers to meet with their children.
